What Minimally Invasive Surgery Means for You

Most gynaecological operations at our clinic are performed through several small incisions rather than one large one. For most patients, that means less pain afterwards, smaller scars, a shorter hospital stay and a faster return to normal activity. Dr Law has performed over 2,000 laparoscopic procedures and trains other doctors in the technique across Asia.

Caesarean Section Without a Visible Scar

For caesarean deliveries, Dr Law places the incision discreetly below the bikini line to keep scarring to a minimum. Recovery can be as quick as a natural birth, and in some cases quicker, so you are back on your feet sooner with your baby.

    Obstetrics & Gynaecology FAQs

A gynaecologist treats conditions of the female reproductive system, while an obstetrician cares for women through pregnancy, birth and the weeks afterwards. Many specialists in Singapore are trained in both, which is why the field is usually written as obstetrics and gynaecology, or O&G. Dr Law is qualified in both.

No referral is needed to see a private gynaecologist in Singapore. You can contact the clinic and book directly. You only need a referral letter if you are seeking subsidised treatment at a public hospital, or if your insurance policy requires one before it will cover the visit.

Gynaecologists treat conditions affecting the female reproductive system. Common ones include irregular or heavy periods, polycystic ovary syndrome, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, pelvic infections, menopausal symptoms and difficulty conceiving. They also perform routine screenings such as Pap smears and pelvic ultrasound scans.

Look at four things. First, accreditation and training, such as MRCOG or FAMS, and registration with the Singapore Medical Council. Second, experience in the area you actually need, whether that is fertility, high-risk pregnancy or surgery. Third, which hospitals they practise at. Fourth, whether you feel comfortable asking them questions.

A private specialist gynaecology consultation in Singapore usually costs between S$150 and S$250, before any tests or procedures. The final amount depends on what is needed at the visit, such as an ultrasound scan, blood tests or a Pap smear. We explain any additional charges before proceeding.

Most women benefit from a check-up every one to three years once they are sexually active. In Singapore, cervical screening is recommended every three years for women aged 25 to 29 using a Pap smear, and every five years from age 30 using an HPV test. See a doctor sooner if your symptoms change.

A postnatal check is usually scheduled around six weeks after delivery. It reviews your physical recovery, any caesarean or perineal wound, your mood, and contraception if you want it. Contact the clinic sooner than six weeks if you have heavy bleeding, a fever, severe pain or any sign of infection.

Yes. Gynaecologists are trained as surgeons as well as physicians. Many operations are now done laparoscopically, through several small incisions rather than one large one, which usually means less pain and a quicker recovery. Common procedures include fibroid removal, ovarian cyst removal and treatment for endometriosis.

You can book by calling +65 6339 6659, emailing enquiry@drlawweiseng.com.sg, or using the enquiry form on this page. The clinic is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm, and Saturday from 9am to 12pm. For urgent pregnancy concerns, please call rather than email.

Your first visit begins with a conversation about your medical history, your cycle and any symptoms you have noticed. Depending on what you describe, Dr Law may suggest a pelvic examination, an ultrasound scan or a Pap smear. Everything is explained before it is done, and you are welcome to bring someone with you.

A first consultation usually takes around 30 minutes, and follow-up visits are often shorter. Allow extra time if a scan or a test is needed on the day. Appointments are scheduled so there is time to ask questions rather than being rushed through.

When selecting a gynaecology clinic in Singapore, ensure that the clinic offers comprehensive obstetric and gynaecological care. Look for a clinic that makes you feel comfortable, offers personalised care, and has expert gynaecologists. You can also ask family and friends for recommendations. Additionally, verify the clinic’s reputation, the specialist training of the doctors, and whether they offer women’s health services such as fertility treatments, high-risk pregnancy management, and minimally invasive surgery.

Dr Law is accredited at seven private hospitals in Singapore: Mount Elizabeth Novena, Mount Elizabeth Orchard, Gleneagles, Thomson Medical Centre, Mount Alvernia, Parkway East and Farrer Park. This usually means you can choose the hospital that best suits your location, preferences, or insurance plan.

MediSave can be used towards delivery and certain gynaecological surgeries, subject to Ministry of Health withdrawal limits. Outpatient consultations are generally not claimable. The clinic works with several major insurers. Please contact us with your policy details before your visit so we can check what applies in your case.
